The vein is a true fissure and troin examinations made . the or body • appeaargeije Corttintions., The company has just completed a road from the mine to Wickes, down Curtain gulch, shortening the distance over a mile, and making a road over which it will be possible for heavy teams to pass at all aeasons of the year. Partly to test the efficiency of the new road and also . to see how the ore would turn out in a run, a car was loaded at the Northern Pacific depot Wednesday and on the follow- ing day shipped to East Helena. No return has been neal frinn the smelter, but according to assays made the car should yield a handsome profit. Nego- tiations are now pending between the Lawrence Co. and the Northern Pacific railroad for the shipment of one car- load of ore per day. • Digest of Land and Mining Decisions. Mr. Hoyt, a Belena mining man, will be the resident manager. The Ammon mines as- Gilt Edge now have about 75 men employed, and last week completed the erection of five new tanks. The Stand -By group of mines at that camp was recently bonded to eastern parties for $45,000, and altogether the prospects of the camp are quite promising. A Southern Utah man finds a ,good way to destroy the various vapors front powder smoke in his tunnel is to slack some lime in a bucket .of water and then with a common fruit tree spray pump blow the lime water into the hanging smoke' and gases, which are thus neutralized. ...- Ike Wickes School. our school commenced on Tuesday morning„Sept. 3. for the usual term with -Mrs. Starrett in No. 1, and Mi, Kate Kellogg in No. 2..
