The recent wreck between this place and Corbin recalls to mind the fact that if the Great Northern does not take some steps to put the trestle near Corbin in repair that sonic time in the near future the people in this v.icinity will - witness one of the greatest catas- trophes in the history of that railroed. A few days, ago the PfON/ifift man 'visited the trestle, having heard ninny ' stories of its unsafe condition, and watched the local passenger train pass over. The structure is about 100 feet high, and when the local..pa.ssed over swayed from side to side like a ship in a storm. The piles under the bridge have all rotted off close to the ground, and the immense weight of a heavily 'loaded train is supported by a few pieces of light material that are liable to give away at any moment and cause fearful loss Of li h• arid property.
