The Liverpool only Works a day shift of miners, and does not work on 'Sunday, it being the only mine in Lump gulch pursuing that polity. Notwithstanding this, however, they regularly ship front two to three cars of ore per week. The pre chutes now being stolted are holding their own, and there is enough ore in sight for,a long time yet to come. .. A new exprosive called chroulate„ first fried in A'ustralia, has been pat- ented and is now being introduced in this country. The advantages claimed for it are that it breaks more rock than \the same quantity of dynamite; it edoes not freeze, because it contains no nitro- glycerine, and _it, free from danger in thawing; it is safer to handle than the ordinary kinds of blasting powder; it produces no poisonous - fumes and causes no headaches, A remarkable case of poisoning is reported from Baker City, Ore. Some days ago A. McMurdo, an employe of the North Pole company at Bourne, near Baker, died with symptoms of poisoning. Now Henry Leipman.super- ietendent. of the mill, has died with the same symptoms. It is! supposed that the men were poisoned by the cyanide used in the mill, the works using, the McArthur -Forrest process. The theoryTs that they were poisoned while handling the es -guide. There is tco much land within a couple of miles of that place that can heeled for the asking, with a bonus thrown in, for the railioad, to pay 50 prices for a few acres. Alhambra has the advan- tage of being nearer the grade, but Hartford, the place now under consid- eration, can. - claim a . much better water supply. Should the shop; ever be moved from Helena, and we doubt it very much, they will in fall proba- bility find a permanent resting place at the little town at the mouth of Lump gulch.
