The Miseeh -evi;o at Lump gulch is making arrangements to quadruple Its present cyanide plant for treating - ore, which will involve the expenditure of some $250,000. Helena Herald. Where the esteemed Herald managed to get the aletee 'item it -would be hard to say. That it is wrong in every particular we are certain. In the first place there is no mine in. Lump gulch called the Mina* neither : is there a cyanide min in that cows The mines of Lump gulch are all hkgh grade, and need no mill to work them, as is the case with low grade propositions. All ores produced in that camp are shipped directly to the smelters. ' The Herald probably refers to the, Minah mine near Wickes, which is the °illy property by that name of any prominence in Jefferson county; hut even then the itent would hale to be read through a strong - megjeifying glass to gain the result as set forth above. The origival Mill at the Minah cost in the veighborhood 4`( . $75,000. This has proven a perfect success, and • will he enlarged 'to three tunes its present capacity, involving . an addi- tional expenditure of probably $50,000. The upper uull. or crushing depart- ment, will turn out about 80 tons per day, while in the lower mill, or roast- ing and precipitating deeartments. only about a third of this amount can be handled. It is the latter which will be enlavged, space having . been re- served for this purpose when the mill wars erected. N.either is the cyanide process used, ar Mr. Warwick. the chemist. informs us that there is only two pounds of cyanide on the property. and that is used for no other purpose than making tests in the laboratory. The priseees need Is an entirely new one. end is a secret known unly to those who are vitally 'interested. We hope the Herald will ke , fit to give honor to whypi honer is due, by making the corrections A marditte editor gets off th . e.,follow- ing: \Ten cents per line will be charged for obituary notices to all business meo who do not advertise white living. llelimenent subscribers will be charged l. cents per line for sn obituary notice. The verdict was a general e surprise„as it was not thought that the prosecution had proven beyond a reasonable,. doubt that Gay was the. man who, did the shooting. William Roberts. of the Blue Bird mine, near Wickes. paid this towu it very pleasant visit last Saturday. He had with . hint. samples from, the mine. whist' de,notes that these Butte boys have s a good thing . beyond a doubt. They have . a breest e of pre in the face a the tuneel. four feet in width, and every part of it -shipping ore at that. It is as solid and as compact in. place as arty ore that has been discovered in the mine and the promises for the future could not be better. Several shipments of ore have bean made * both to the east and west aide. but they got better returns front the Butte eaheltent than they did from the one inHelena and in the future they inteepd to send all of their product to the redlictiott plants of Butte. The freight from Wickes in a, load lots is $2.68 per ten, $1 for hat- g fr the mine to the railroad tra, as the smelter charges. Th.- gives them a handsome return trot the ore. Roberts ..was . as enthusiastic as any miner could possibly be and claims, from henceforth, that all of t ne boys who are interested in the eroperty will live on the sunneeside of easy street.
