'George and Jacob Scharf and Frank Nelson taok the trail down the bar and when they got to the Peck -Montana mill, just below Corbin and fully time miles from Wickes, sig - hted three men whom they correctly judged Were the ones they were after. Frank Nelson, who was slightly in advance of the others, caught Ater with the travelers and ordered them to throw hp their hands. Seeing George and Jake Scharf just behind Nelson, covering them with savage -looking guns and advancing - , on the run, they wisely de- cided the game was up and readily obeyed. Previous to this the pursuers had gone into the telegraph office at Corbin and wired to Wickes that they were on the trail of the men. Immedi- ately on receipt of the message Dr. Bullard. who was directing the search for the robbers, called for volunte ' ers to go to go down to Corbin. the fol- lowing men respentding: Frank La- moine, Harry Bartell, B. F. Shreve and J. J, White. B. C. St 'Co.'s team was dispatched and met the men with their captivesfeturning to town. All were taken aboard and, arriving at ,the store, the prisoners were placed in the office, under guard, and kept closely until Deputy Sheriff Sherlock arrived f. lilt Boulder and took them in charge. On investiga- tion he discovered the tracks of a luau near the barn. These are thought t. have been made by the robber who eapded, and he was probably in hiding in the barn when the sleigh was taken out to go after his accomplices. Two men are in town from down the gulch who say the fourth burglar escaped to Clancy and slept in the ,roundhouse after he left Wickes. 'Too much praise cannot be accorded Frank Nelson and George and Jacob Scharf for their brilliant capture, and the other citizens who .took, such an active and determined part in the affair. In the office was found a heavy crowbar, which had been used in an attempt to open the safe. Here the men showed that they were notices. Their whole attention had been given to prying off the com- bination. as vias shown by the amp indentations in the door of the safe. Had the combination been taken off the men could not have gained admit- tance to the money drawer. The liar with which the burglars worked, it was afterwards ascertained, had been stolen from the section }ulnae at the ,ttomel.
