Royals turned away with the remark, “ if I ever g et out out of here I will get your horse and then go and get the niares.” When he did escape, he went after the horse but it had died a day or two before- He then lit out,' and three weeks ago appeared on Shields river, where he promptly stole a saddle and horse. Then_h-e-vy.ent-b‘ack—to-fiweet— grass' cou'nty, stole the seven marcs he hid picked out and started north. He was' chased up into Fergus, then down through Meagher into Gallatin, then over into Madison, where he abandon ed the horses eleven miles northwest of T w in Bridges. T lie , animals were brought back to Whitehall, shod and returned to the owner. , Royals' then drifted down into the Gallatin valley and went into a hotel at Manhattan whore he was recognized •aad his arrest soon followed.
