Cook's pon- derous locomobile: that is 11) lie in ope- ration here by June 1: Aside from be- ing thought to he the first locomohile to be manufac(nred in the northwest this also holds the record oh being the first locomobile stage ever used in the United States. The vehicles, for there ate two of them, are being manufactured by M. Kulp of the Novelty Carriage Works, while the machinery is being put in by the Union Works. The first will be the motor wagon, while the secanTwal be the trailer or passenger 'coach : The stage will be nothing else than a small sized railroad train traveling at. the rate of twenty miles an hour over mountain roads witliont'traek or road bed. In the motor wagon is to be installed a 35 -horse power gasoline engine which it to be capable of drivinglhe entire train. In addition the motor wagon will carry the freight and baggage and will he cap- able of taking care of 10,000 pounds of freight. The motor wagon, with motor, will weigh about 6000 pounds, Gasoline is to he used in preference to steam to do away with the necessity of giving .5 large amount of spice to fuel and water. A special engineer wilt- be employed to run the engine 80 as to guard against ac- cidents. The trailer or passenger coach is a monster. With a seating capacitx for (ighteen persons and the possibffilltnof crowding several - Mort telt will hold tile record of. being .the biggest stage in the northwest. The empty wagon will weigh. about 4000 pounds. The axles for both . the motor wagon and coach are heavr steel affairs, perhaps the largest ever used in the manufacture of R wagon in this city. Tie stage is owned by John R. Cook and will be put into service June I. It will ply betwe4.6 Kendall and Harlowton and Is expected to corer the distonee'th five. hours, The motor wagon will have four -inch solid rubber tires, while the trailer will have three-inch solid tires. The, recently elected school trustees of this district met Thurmilay evening. The first business done Was to agonize. E. B. Smith, C. kitten and H. Smith —the full board•-rwetaMattendance.,On motion II. Smith was chosen chairman, end W. W. Calder clink. It wet ilecided to call for hide and specifications for a two -room school house. The cost -is not - to exceed $3000. Bids should be in by the 20th. The chairmen was instructed to call on the connty attorney for an opinion as to' whe her the proceedings heretofore had have been legal. The trustees will meet again on the 20th. WORK ON THE POSSIBLE. _ The Shaft Going Down and the Tunnel Being Driven. The North Moccasin company is push- ing development work on the Possible claim, under the direction of Super* tendent C. Ridell. The shaft is down 80 feet and the indications are favorable for soon encountering the ore hod. Work has been resumed in the tunnel that extends in the ore body toward the Barnes -King ground. This tunnel is in over 100 feet The ore is good. It is understood work on the new mill will begin within a week.
