The inspector at New Orleans received a number of complaints of interference from Knoxville, Tenn. An investigation revealed that an amateur was using an unlicensed spark coil transmitter without a re- ceiver, which. he admitted, was be ing done for the sole purpose of cre- ating interference with a listener across the street. As the action was in violation cif the law, the case was reported to the district attorney and came tie is -fore Federal Judge Hicks. The amateur pleaded guilty and was sentenced to pay a fine, tt'dvr operating an unlicensed transmitter is a fine not exceeding $500 and the confiscation of the apparatus. The penalty for nalicious interference is a fine of $500 or a sentence of one year or both. W. D. Terre!, chief radio super- visor, has suggested that complaints stilt to him by listeners regarding interference contain more detailed information. He desires to know the type of set used and form of inter- ference being set up.
