Gilmore, •$148.20, shows items of serving sub- poenas in which mileage is not given. Also cases of State vs. Dan Berry and Leonard Jackson, Graham. In came of pre- serving order and other matters where the Sheriff twee his own ear, he is entitled to not to exceed 12 1 cper mile. If the Shelf( takes a deputy with hint in mutters of preserving order he can not charge a mileage for his deputy. The illYst: per mile la in refund of his actual expenses. The claims appear to be in very good corfilition us to itemization and clerical notations. A brief ir.spection was made of the printing claims, but as same have been a matter of controversy and have been checked several times by printers and others, no doubt competent to audit saute, we do not believe our examination would furnish any valuable information. In examining Printing dairies. the Clerk should take measurements of the printed mutter when claim is presented for payment. Time fees of county officers for certified copies belong to the county and should he fieeeented for on the fee books of the respective offices. The attention of the Board Of Commissioners is called to Lisa fact that they should increase very materially the levy for sinking fund purposes is order to bring their sinking fund up to requirements.
