Gardner Brownlee presided over the regular law and motion day in district court here Tuesday and the court ord- ered the following action taken in matters heard. State Sen. Eugene H. Mahoney was appointed attorney for Louis Larriniere and his arraignment on a charge of burglary was continued to Aug. 25. The defen- dant is being charged with burg- larizing the C. A. C._Q_Q}‘-‘&1. g s Enjoy the great outdoors—but please be careful! 1 Noxon Boy Hurt In Skiing Mishap By Ledger Correspondent NOXON—Jack Roberts Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Rob- erts, suffered a broken leg Friday afternoon while water skiing on Pend Oreille lake near Samowen beach. Two skiers were being pulled behind the boat and Jack was watching his companion and failed to notice how close he was to the dock. In a collision with the dock his leg was broken severely above the knee. Dr. Neil Wendle was at his home at Wendlemere and rend- ered first aid immediately. Jack was then taken to the Bonner General hospital in Sandpoint. He will be confined there about a month with his leg in traction. This is the second accident for Jack this year. He received a broken arm last spring while pole vaulting at school and had the cast removed from his arm about six weeks ago. Work on Timber Plan Started Work is now in progress on a timber management plan for Kaniksu forest lands in Sanders county, Karl A. Klehm, super- visor of the Kaniksu National Forest, Sandpoint, announced today. Klehm said the Sanders county area will be known as the Cabinet Working Circle. Both the Trout Creek and Nox- on ranger districts are located in the Kaniksu National Forest. He also reported that the chief of the U. S. Forest Service has approved the timber man- agement plan for the Newport Working Circle in the Newport, Wash. ranger district. V Former Resident Dies in Colorado Word was received here this week that Mrs. Maurice Madden, former resident, who left here with her husband and children, Maurice Jr. and Patty, over a year ago, died June 12 at Paonia, Colo. The Maddens lived up Blue Slide and the children at- tended school here where Mau- rice played on the football team. Briefs Pvt. Harvey Curran Jr. arriv- ed here Monday morning from Fort Ord, Calif. to spend a week visiting his parents and brother and sister. He will report back to Fort Ord at the end of his fur- lough. Women's Leagues Plan Fall Play League play for the Blue Mon- day Women's league will begin Sept. 14 at the Ranch Lanes and play for the Wednesday night Cedars Women's league will start Sept. 9, members decided Tuesday evening at the woman's clubhouse. The number of teams playing in each league is not certain yet and league presidents Mrs. Norman Lovhaug and Mrs. War- ren Craddick asked that any woman interested in bowling or any person or firm interested in sponsoring a team contact them as soon as possible. In other business, members rejected the four -point scoring system for this year, retained the same fee per league night, voted to hold position night bowling at the end of each round of play and agreed to observe new WIBC regulations for the achievement award for women bowlers. Members voted to sponsor an invitational tournament Oct. 10- 11, if the dates can be cleared with the state and national as- sociations.
