SANDERS COUNTY LEDGER Thursday, Doc. 24, 1959-5 Utility to Remodel M-5( Messhall, Office into Maintenance Barracks The messhall and office build- ing built for Morrison-Knudsen Co., major contractor on the Noon Rapids dam and power- house, by National Log Construc- tion Co. of Thompson Falls, are to be remodeled for permanent use by the Washington Water Power Co. maintenance crews. Thorough and detailed yearly inspections will be made of all parts of the operating plant by a crew consisting of approxima- tely 20 men during a four -week period. A major feature of the work performed during this period occurs when each unit is shut down to permit close in- spection of all parts that might have been effected by operation. The messhall will be convert- ed into a compact sleeping and eating unit. The present large dining space will be remodeled into nine bedrooms and a wash- room. The existing kitchen will be reduced in size and eating space provided. Refrigeration wmilood•d•Il. and storage rooms will not be changed, but a 10th bedroom will replace the bake shop. FOcreation space and 11 bed- rooms and a washroom will com- pletely change the interior of , the office building. Bids have been requested from local as well as other con- tractors. It is expected that a contract for the remodeling work will be awarded this mon- th Local Residents Attend Funeral Mr. and Mrs Robert Brother - ton and Floyd Brotherton re- turned Friday from Henry, S. Dak., where they were called re- cently by the illness and death of Elmer Hineline. Mrs. Hineline is a sister of Robert and Floyd. Homes are well built, have full basements and attached, heated garages. They are equipped with aut- omatic oil furnaces and water is supplied from RANGER STATION—One of the three new three -bedroom modern homes recently complet- ed as a part of the new Trout Creek ranger station is shown above District Ranger John Brinkerhoff and his family recently moved into this home and the other two will be occupied in a new well, which will supply water for all buildings of the new station. Each has a mod- ern fireplace, attractive and convenient kitchen and is equipped with a double bathroom. Wives of three rangers were permitted to select color scheme L for interiors (Ledger photo) the spring by Mr. and Mrs. Bill Taliaferro and Mr. and Mrs. Bob Burrington and families. Taliaferro is assistant ranger and Burrington is alternate ranger. Three homes are in a group. A problem in the spring will be landscaping.
