(Ledger photos) Hawks top Darby, remain unbeaten by Fay Allen The Thompson Falls Blue Hawks added two more wins to their string of victories last week with an easy 60-6 win over the Mission Bulldogs Thursday and a closer 41-18 defeat of Darby Friday afternoon. The only other undefeated team in the West- ern Division is Superior. The Blue Hawks will meet the Su- perior Bobcats, Jan.? at? p.m. in Su- perior to determine who retains first place in the division standings. The matches at Mission racked up some high scores for the Hawks. Mis- sion was plagued by injuries and ab- sences due to vacation. The matches with Darby were closer and a lot tougher. Larry Mil- ner, 167 -pounder, earned a 1-0 decis- ion over Jenkins from Darby. Jen- kins has been beaten once by Lester from Arlee. Coaches John Weber and Rich De- Witt said they were \very impress- ed\ with the wrestling of Rhon El- dridge. Rhon scored a pin at Mission and a 31-1 decision over Talarico from Darby. The schedule of coming Blue Hawk matches is: Jan. 7, Superior there; Jan. 13, Arlee there; Jan. 18, Loyola here, 7 p.m.; Jan. 20-21, /fellgate Missoula Tournament and Jan. 27-28, Western Divisional at Darby. Blue Hawks idle until after holidays The Thompson Falls Blue Hawks get a chance this week to rest and re- coup for the post -holiday cage wars after losing last week to charlo 82-58 here Wednesday and to Troy 59-55 there Thursday night. The lass to Charlo was a non -con- ference tilt. The Vikings are one of the state's strongest class C schools. After dropping behind 9-18 in the first period, the hawks were never able to catch up. Clint Laws contributed 43% of the team scoring with 25 points. Tied 41-41 at the end of three per- iods, the Trojans outscored the Hawks 18-14 in the fourth period to gain the final margin of victory. The Trojans converted 12 of 15 charity chances in the final stanza. The Hawks' Laws led all scorers with 14 points. Coach Doug Walsh and the Hawks are idle until Jan. 6-7 when they in- vade the Bitterroot Valley for games with Corvallis and Darby. Red Devils lose to Troy NOXON--The Noxon Red Devils closed out their pre -holiday cage play with a 57-47 loss to class B Troy. The Trojans gained most of their victory margin in the first period as Red Devils got off to a slow start. The two teams played the final three stanzas on even terms.
