The four candidates were selected from the Junior Class on the basis of Leadership, Character, Integrity, and Scholastic Standing. John Reinlasoder and John Pease were selected as alternates in case one or more of the delegates is unable to attend. David Nass is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Bud Nass of Poplar. David will. attend Boys State under the spon- sorship of the Poplar Cham- ber of Commerce. During his three years at PHS David has been on the honor roll regularly and has been act- ive in PHS's Speech and Dramo Programs and is a member of the National Honor Society. Jack Schagunn, the son of Me. and Mes. Alvin Scho- gunn, will be attending Boys Stote under the sponsorship of the Poplar Lions Club. Jack has been active in numerous extra-curricular activities including the PHS Athletic Program and Student Council. Jack is also a member of the National Honor Society. John Taflan, Jr. the Amer- ican Legion delegate to State, has been active in the Local Competitive Speech Program for the past three years. SAVIC We are very happy to have Dr. Moniclo Savic (pro- MONTANA REPERTORY nounced Momchilo Savich) and his wife Doro Savic in our community. Dr. Savic comes to us very highly recommended and has excel- lent credentials and ex- perienced background. He is 39 years old, receiv- ed his Medical Degree in 1957 from the School of Medicine, University of Fagreb, Yugoslavia . Dr. Savic was in general proc- tice in Split, Yugoslavia for 4 years. Split is a city of approximately 300,000 population located on the west coast of Yugoslavia . He then specialized in surg- ery for 5 yeors. The Seavics came to the U.S. in Nov., 1967 and he served as Resoerch Associate in Neurophysiology at Good Samaritan Hospital and Medical Center in Portland, Oregon. He_ arrived in Poplor, Feb. 14th. Dr. and Mrs. Savic ore the parents of a daugh- ter, Sabina, 6 months old. Dora Savic is also from Split, Yugoslavia. She is of Italian descent. Dr. Savic, a man with a good sense of humor, says his family is in the great Americanism tradition of \melting pot\. He is from Yugoslavia, his wife has a passport from Italy and his daughter was born in Americo. cont.
