The Mosby's will take over the operation on May Ist. Jeannie will continue to serve the same as the people have been used to getting at the Samrock for many years. She will continue to do any spec- ial order cooking or baking to your specifications, or fancy cakes decorated for any occo- sion. Irma and Lyle have operated the Samrock for over 20 years. and wish to thank all the people from the Poplar orea for their past patronage . Sat. May 2nd they will serve Free Coffee and Donuts from 2to 5 and a Free Gift aa thank you from Irma and Lyle and a Grand Opening forthe Mosby's. The Shamrock will be open six days o week--having Tuesdays for the closing day instead of the usual Saturdays. ‘tl Mrs. Leota M. Hoye, Froid, has filed for the office of Treasurer . She and her husband Irwing live on a farm 4 miles east of Froid. They have three children; Richard, who is married and has 3 child- ren, Sharon who is morried and has 2 children, and David who is attending Eastern Montana College . Mrs. Hoye has been active in church, community, coun- ty and state orgainzations for 25 years. She has worked as enumero- tor ond super, Or 6TH ANNUAL Crop and Livestock Report- ing Service for the past 7 years. Mrs. Hoye was the District VFW Auxiliary President 1969-70 and Past State Sec- retary . She is serving as a member of the Roosevelt County Advisory council on both the Mental Health and Comprehensive Health Asso- | ciations. Mrs. Hoye has been active in PTA - Past State Presi- dent 1961-64, District Sec- retary-Treasurer 1965-69 . Mrs. Hoye was the supervisor of the Comprehensive Health survey in 1969. This year she worked on the Heart Fund campaign and wds o census toker. Mrs. Hoye says she will give conscientious, court- eous and efficient service. She has a continued con- cern for the people of Roosevelt Cc 7:30 P.M. HIGH SCHOOL GYMNASIUM Mr. Skinner was born and raised in Poplar. He grad- vated from Poplar High School, attended | |/2 years at the University of Montana. He is a World War II Veteran, married and the father of three children. Mr. Skinner is a Past Com- - mander of the American Le- gion Post of Poplar, member of the Masons, Elks, and First Presbyterian Church. He was on the Police force in Poplar for eight years 5 \/2 as Police Chief. He attended the Law Enforce- ment Academy and also Leadership School sponsored by the State at MSU. CORRECTION The starting date for school for 1970-71 school year is August 31, 1980 instead of Aug. 30, as published in last weeks paper. Poplar. Norman (Shang) was killed on Sunday, April 26th in an accident at his home while he and his brother Robert were re- pairing a faulty hoist on a truck. Norman was killed in- stantly when the truck bed fell on him. Norman was-born Aug. 16, 1916. The son of Mr. and Mrs. William L. Voorhees. His early years were spent in t the Grandview Community south of Poplar. He moved to Poplar in 1928 and graduated from the Poplar High School in 1934. He entered the service during World War Il. He returned to Poplar after his discharge where he took up farming and ranching in- terests which he retained all of his life. He entered the Postal Service and was a Rural Route Carrier since 1953 He served on the Roosevelt County Draft Board from 1962 until he retired from this duty the spring of 1969. He was a member of the Am- erican Legion and a member of the Presbyterian Church. Shang was active in Scouting BUSSING CONTRACTS BEING MADE Individual transportation con- tracts for the 1970-71 school yeor are now being made by the school districts in Roosevelt County, according to Harry L. Astmann, County Superintendent of Schools. Any parent whose residence is more than three miles from the school his children attend and no school bus service is available, is eli- gible for payment in place of bus transportation. Parents who qualify for individual contracts should contact the district clerk as soon as possible . He was married to Joyce Mar- quardt in Wolf Point on Dec. 31, 1947. He is survived by his parents Mr. and Mrs. William L. Voorhees and wife Joyce, all of Poplar. Two sons in the service, Michael in Viet Nom and Mark in Germany. Three daughters, Bonnie, Connie, and Judy at home in Poplar. Two brothers, Robert, Poplor and William, Glendive, and one sister Mrs. Frank (Dorothy) Winhofer of Poplar. Rev. .Gene Harbough will off- iciate ot the Funeral Services and Interment will be ot the Poplar Cemetary. Military Rites will be held by the Poplar Legion Firing Squad. ARTS FESTIVAL TONIGHT The ort classes of the Pop- lar Elementary School pre- sent for the Sixth Annual Arts Festival a sampling of the projects undertaken dur- ing the school yeor. The student's best efforts in var- ious media and techinques have been chosen for the exhibit. The public is in- vited to view the exhibits on Thursday, April 30, 1970.
