August llttl), 11)11, for the erection and coin pletion of a four room and basement, brick and stone school building for said district in the City of Poison, Montana. Plans may be seen at the otlice of S. C. Hibee, Clerk of D istrict No. 23 or a t the otlice of ,1. B. Gibson, archi tect, Kalispell, .Montana and a t the ollice of the Chamber of Commerce a t Missoula, Montana. Each bid must be accompanied by a certified check for a sum equal to live percent of the amount of the bid, said certilied check to be made payable to the Board of Trustees of School District No 23, Flathead county, Montana, and placed as a guarantee that the successful bidder will enter into a written agreement to erect the build ing according to the plans and speci fications and within the time therein specified for the completion of the building. Bibbee, D istrict Clerk. V A L L E Y V I E W | V I E W S § Mr. Joe Ilarr, father of Elmer Harr who has a ranch five miles southwest of Poison, departed for Edmunton, N. W. T. last Sunday where he went to assist in harvesting a large crop of wheat and oats which he and a son and son-in-law own, there being 960 acres in all. But as he is very much taken up with the Flathead valley he will return late tliis fall to remain here permanently with his family. Miss Ueeves entertain Miss Childers and Mrs. Simmons at dinner last Sunday a t her home ranch on Knob Hill Henry Ronnfeldt is busy cutting his crop of wheat w hich is very prom ising. Mr. and Mrs. W. F. Berry, F. E. Dudley and Albert It. Foley went to Kalispell on Monday to prove up on their homesteads. Mr. Foley going from their to Salt Lake City to visit friends on liis way to his home in St. Louis. There will be a social dance at the school house a week from next Tues day, August 22, to which everybody is coidially invited. This will be a sort of farewell to a few of the Valley Vieuites.so lets all turn out and have a rip-roarin’ time. Struthers and Mr. Jaclcson went huckleberrying last Sun day and report the berries as unusual ly large and line. A heavy shower however, prevented their getting very many berries. Miss Genevieve Crouch of Missoula is visiting her aunt, Mrs. Isabella Scoonover ou her ranch iu Sec. 17., Mrs. Scoonover now has lots of Sun day evening company. Mr. Christianson and Mr. PheiJfer are helping Mr. Ira llarnes with his harvesting. v’lf you want to hear a hardluck story ask Charley Bowdish how he irrigates the side hill from a barrel—but be sure you’re not in striking distance when you ask. Ed. Lindsay is visiting Al. W right at liis ranch for a few days. Air. W right says it seems good to have a cook in the house. Mr. Enerath and wife late of the Colville Reclamation camp are leaving this week for her old home. We are sorry to see them go, as they are de lightful people whom we are sure to miss—may good luck attend them. Luther Lindsay is having tim b er hauled out from Poison to erect a house on his 120-acre tract in Sec. 7 21-20. Mr. Lindsay is at present as sisting .Mrs. W right to establish a lestaurant in Poison. Mrs. Coville and Mrs. IOnerath were calling on Mrs. Barnes Monday. 1 B I G A R M M. L. Dawson of “ Dawsons\ and representative of the Kallspel Monti mental works passed through here last week e n routeto Camas. A bunch of Polsonltes autoed up to Bigarm last Thursday. G. R. M. Stritzel was transacting business here a few days last week. Mr. Brown and son of Colorado are new citizens of our town. Mr. Patterson and wife, G. N. ex press agent at Kalispell, stopped here between trains last Sunday. The Star came up Sunday. Dr. Dickson of Dayton and Mr Vance of Kalispell autoed over to our town Monday. Miss Gilmet is enjoying a visit from her sister late of Minneapolis. .T. O. Rude left last Sunday for business trip to the county seat. Mr. Brownell is entertaining friend who came in Monday. Mrs. Abel and Mrs. Clubb and daughter returned home Sunday. Miss Lamb of the Bigarm Mercan tile company is transacting business in Kalispell this week. Iians Tromans is completing his business building tliis week. Thomas O'Brien returned to his liome hi Bigarm last week. COUNCIL PROCEEDINGS Minutes of August 7, 1911 The City Council of the City of Poison met iu Regular Session this 7th day of August 1911 a t 8 o’clock p. m. at the oflice of the City Clerk The Mayor and following members of the Council being present: Silver, Up ham, Mills, Harrell and Loveland. The resignation of John Benson, as Alderman from the Third ward was read and accepted and M. Lovinger and J. J . Ober were placed in nomina tion to fill the vacancy. A vote by ballot was now taken with tlie follow ing result: Max Lovinger, 2 J. J. Ober, 3 Mr. Ober being elected on lirst ballot Mr. Loveland’s resignation, as al derman from the Third Ward is now read and accepted and it is moved, seconded aud carried t h a t the vacancy be filled a t the next meeting of tlie Council. Police Judge Maynard’s report read aud it was duly moved, seconded and carried th a t the report be returned to the J udge, by the Clerk, and in struct the Judge to turn over to the Treasurer all money collected during the month of J uiy and to make his reports in the future, conform to that rule. The report of the Marshall and Street Commissioner were read and approved. All salary and labor bills, for the month of July were ordered paid and all other bills were ordered placed in the hands of the auditing committee H ealth Officer Owen’s resignation was read and ordered put on tlie table Alderman Upham was appointed by t lie Mayor to All all places on the standing committees, made vacant by tho resignation of Alderman Marsh. The appointment is confirm ed by the Council. It is now duly moved, seconded and carried th a t the City Council now ad journ to meet Monday evening, Au gust 14, 1911 a t 8 o’clock p. m. Jas. M. Bibee, A freight car loaded with lumber got away on the Batavia hill live miles west of Kalispell Tuesday after noon and came down the grade faster than schedule lime, crashing into Lhe rear-coach of the Somers train, mak ing such havoc th a t the train was delayed so t h a t the City of Poison did not arrive at the Poison docks till 11.00 p. m.
