Dora Garbe spent Sunday afternoon ' with her parents. She has been on duty at the Poison hospital for the past two weeks Mr. and Mrs. Walt Shenemen and son Dale and Mr. and Mrs. Walteen Milner arid daughters were Sunday dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. C. E. Matchler and family. Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Burnside and Mrs. Hollis visited Sunday afternoon at the Roy Reed home. Fred Biederman left Monday morning for Selby, S. D., to spend the holidays with his mother. Mr. and Mrs. Roy Reed visited at the Wm. Dietrich home Sunday evening. Mr. and Mrs. Max Garbe visited at the Earl Mutchler home on Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. E. Mutchler were visit- ors in Missoula Wednesday and Friday. Mrs. J. 0. Sanden entertained the Fred OuHickson, Mrs. J. J. Guyette, Mrs. T. P. Hafdahl, Mrs. D. A. Lewis, Mrs. H. Nelson, Mrs. Clarence Sanden, Mrs. Ray Sanden, Mrs. Ed Schliep and Miss Kathleen Keller. Mrs. J. J. Guyette went to French - town Monday to visit her daughter, Mercedes. Miss Guyette is teaching in the Frenchtown schools. Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Dietrich, Mrs. Van- degrift and Herman Kaeding were din- ner guests Sunday at the George Man - gels *home. Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Dietrich spent Thursday evening at the Fred Martin home in Ronan. Mr. and Mrs. B. W. Dummick of Post Creek were Sunday afternoon visitors of Mr. and Mrs. W. F Stimson and son Fred. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Arfnold of Poi- son were Sunday dinner guests at the Stimson home. Mrs. Stimson and son Fred motored to Missoula on Tuesday to meet Claude Stimson of Galesburg, Ill. More and more par- ents are being convinced that this is \their\ organization and are attending. The next meeting will be held the sec- ond Monday night in January and it is hoped that every parent will endeavor to attend. Prin. Roy E Alton feels that the P. T. A. is to be highly commended on the interest they are taking in the school this year. The sponsoring of the hot huiches at school is a commendable activity of our P. T. A. as was also the raising of money for the Christmas treats and filling of the sacks. The com- munity responded wonderfully in the latter cause and approximately thirty dollars was collected. At the meeting Monday night Prof. Men spoke of the necessity of taking down the school swings because they had become un- safe. Ralph Durham, Melvin Port and Lester Port volunteered to secure new poles during Christmas vacation. Mr. Alton expressed great pleasure for such a line community spirit as these boys showed. Pablo school gave a Christmas pro- gram on Friday eve. December 18th at the school house. A very large crowd was in attendance and a program Wa$ well rendered and very much enjoyed. Much credit is due Miss Williams of the 5th and 6th grades and Miss Donaldson of the 3rd and 4th grades who spon- sored it. Mr. Alton and Miss Halfdahl cheerfully decorated for the Christmas program. After the program bags of candy, nuts and oranges were distrib- uted to all children present. Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Davenport and Mrs. T. Burgess of Poison were dinner guests Friday of Mr. and Mrs. Bill Owen. Mr. and Mrs. Howard Light. Twilla Myers, Ruthie Rose, Lester schleip and Archie Olson, Delmer and Cecil Car- bine were callers the latter part of the week at the Bill Owen home. Mrs. Howard Light entertained the members of the Reservoir Valley club at her home Wednesday. A hot dinner was served at one o'clock to nine members present and one guest. The afternoon a as devoted to a business session when plans for the Christmas treats for the school was completed. The program will be held at the school house on Wednesday evening. Proctor Items Mrs. Levi Learn returned home Tues- day from Kalispell where she has been visiting at the home of her daughter: Mrs. William Branden. A special meeting of the Ladies Aid was called for Tuesday at the home of Mrs. Mike Meuli. Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Welsh and small daughter were shopping in Kalispell Saturday. D. o. Rogers and son. Dale, are put- ting up a fence around the property they recently purchased. George Williams and son. Graydon. were Kalispell visitors Friday. Melville Meull had the misfortune to cut his foot quite seriously Wednesday while chopping wood. Nick Meull of Dayton rushed the injured man to Poi- son where he entered the hosptial to have the cut treated. He was able to return to his home Thursday afternoon but it is expected that it will be mew time before he will be able to use the injured foot. Mr. and Mrs. Donald Grant and children were shopping in Kalispell Fri- day. Mr. and Mrs. R. L. Walker and fam- ily and Mrs. S. H. Thomas were Kalis- pell visitors Friday. North Crow Creek Mr. and Mrs. John McNeil and daughter of. Regina, Mont.. have been visiting at the McNeil homes. They are enroute to Washington where they will reside this winter. Wilbur Middleton of Chario was a guest of E. D. Hendrich Monday. Mr. and Mrs. L. A. Baumgartner. Mrs. A. T. Baumgartner and Mr. and Mrs. A Hocker were shoppers in Mis- soula Thursday. Misses Phyllis Cooper. Irene Cran- nel and Phyllis Baumgartner and Messrs. Philip and Dan Baumgartner were guests of Dahien Jensen Friday evening. Mr. and Mrs. D. R. Bigham of Spo- kane have been visiting at the Charles Adamson home. William and Thurman Trosper, Hu- bert Murphy and John French are spending the Christmas vacation at their respective homes. Chas. Mattson returned to his home at Red Lodge Monday. On his return he will be accompanied by his wife and family. The children's Christmas party given Saturday evening at the N. C. C. club- house by the Woman's Club and the Farmers' Union was attended by a large crowd. Mrs. L. A. Baumgartner called at the P. P. and Glen McNeil homes on Thursday. Finley Point The Montecatao club met at the home of Mrs. Shrider last Wednesday after- noon with Mrs. Hoskinson assisting. Thirty-five members attended this meeting. The Shrider home was beau- tifully decorated in keeping with the Yuletide. A very enjoyable Christmas program was presented by various mem- bers of the club. Santa Claus was there in person and was the CatiSe of much merriment. Each member Was present- ed with a gift. A delicious lunch was served by the hostesses. The next meet- ing will be held at the home of Mrs. Werner on Wednesday. January 6th. with Mrs. Biller assisting. Mr. and Mrs. George Hedin were visitors at the H. o. Thurston home Saturday. Miss Ruth Chantry came from Mis- soula to spend the holidays with her parents. Miss Avis Hamilton came from Spo- kane Saturday evening to spend the holidays at home. Barney Barton. who has been living with his atint' and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. George Harrel returned to his home in Oklahoma. He was acompanied by his sister. Dixie Barton. Father Griva was the architect but Father Louis J. Taelman, now presi- dent of Gonzaga college built it. Ad- joining the church Is the parsonage Father O'Maley was recently appointed pastor by Bishop Catroll of Helena. The Altar society has done much to promote the church financially and socially. Buffalo for Xmas Chas. Allard, drove in a bunch of buffalo the first of the week to be slaughtered and served out for Christ - hiss dinner. The City meat market handled the meat. First Snow Xmas Day The first snowfall of the season came just in time to make things white for Christmas. It is still snowing this Christmas day and winter has at last arrived. The latter has large timber holdings on the west shore. Mr. Dewey has had 20 years experience in the saw mill busi- ness having at one time conducted a ins and after its destruction the Cramer mill. Lights Went Out An accident at the power house put all lights out of commission Friday nite. Engineer Miller was standing right be- side the engine just two minutes before a casting went to pieces and wrecked the engine. Manager Wall and all his men stayed on the job until the fol- lowing afternoon when repairs were made sufficient to run the plant in a fashion. Inter Lake Ball Moose Ft. M. Goshorn has sold the Kalispell Inter Lake to a progressive bunch of Flathead men and it is now a full fledged bull moose organ. J. L. LaFond of Big Timber is the new editor. Good Record, Firemen The Poison Fire team has an enviable record insomuch as they have never allowed a fire to get away from a build- ing in which it was started. The regular annual ball will be held on New Year's eve and it is the duty of every citizen to at least buy a ticket. Local and Persona/ R. E. Chantry has commenced to haul logs he is cutting on the land he re- cently purchased on Finley Point to the beach near Skidoo bay. He will have about 500.000 feet of saw logs besides fire wood. A cobweb social was held by the Ladies Aid of Spring valley at the home of Mrs. I. N. Jones. Gus Norris and Miss J. S. Smith won prizes. The pro- ceeds were presented to Rev. Morris. Dr. Miner of Culbertson \left on the Klondike yesterday for Spokane\ af- ter visiting at the Dr. Brockman home. Mrs. Levinger and Miss Ruth went to Everett. Wash., to spend the holidays L. J. Elkins lost a valuable cow from eating too much oat hay. Pat Mooney has purchased the inter- est of his partner Roy Durkee, in the Steamer Queen, which is now anchored in her winter quarters in Safety Bay. The Poison Flour Mill is having to work overtime in order to get all their orders out before the lake freezes up. Rose LaVaUe of Kalispell is visiting her sisters, Mrs. Springer and Mrs. Louis Couture. Born to Mr. and Mrs. Robert Gillam. December 22nd, a daughter. Big Arm Item: The Steamer Montana will not make its regular run today. . . Bigarm is quiet now and there does not seem to be much chance of things get- ting better until something is done to- wards appraising the lots. Mrs. Fred Stratton entertained the Round Butte Woman's Club at her home Thursday afternoon. It was de- cided to give a dance and card party for the members and their husbands at the gym New Year's Eve. $25 was donated to the Montana Children's Home at Helena. Following the busi- ness session gifts were exchanged. Mrs. Rey Johns also reecived many lovely gifts. Mrs. Fred Blumhagen played the harmonica and Mrs. A. Weistaner the violin and together they played several musical numbers. The next meeting will be held at the home of Mrs. Ray Mr. and Mrs. Jake Pfaff, Mrs. Christ- ina Wylie and daughter, Edna Mae and Thelma Pfaff, Earl Wylie and Mr. and Mrs. R. E Grund were dinner guests Sunday at the Walter Grund home. Howard Pearce arrived Sunday from Missoula to spend the holidays at the R. E. Grund home. Clifford Beck, a student at the school of Mines at Butte and J. P. Sines a student at the State college at Bozeman are spending their vacation at their respective homes. Mrs. Neal Melton returned home Wednesday from a three weeks visit with friends and relatives at Miles city. Mr. and Mrs. John Hogan entertain- ed the Hi -Yu crowd Saturday evening at the gym. A very good time was had by all. Thelma Pfaff and Earl Wylie of Ro nan visited at the Glenn Richard home Sunday afternoon. The school presented its Christmas program Friday evening. The 1st and 2nd grades presented the operetta \Crosspatch Fairies\ and a Rytkun band selection. The 3rd and 4th grades and 5th and 6th grades gave several plays and the final number was a play by the '7th and 8th grades. Following the pro- gram Santa appeared and gave all the children candy. C. McMillian's father is visiting at the McMillan home. Mrs. Askel Jager is spending several days at the L. M. Beck home. She 18 slowly recuperating from her operation. Constance Bell, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Babe Bell was married at Colfax, Wash., December 5th. Her friends here wish her much happiness. Mr. and Mrs. A. Weistaner were din- ner guests Tuesday evening at the Levis home.' Mr. and Mrs. Wm. McGourty, Mr. and Mrs. Matt Jager, Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Elmore. Mr. and Mrs. John Seines, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Turnquist. Mr. and Mrs. A. L. Atkinson, Mr. and Mrs. Neil Brat - ton, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Grund, Norma Jager and Mr. and Mrs. L. M. Beck pleasantly surprised Mrs. A.
