More about this newspaper

Newspapers from the Fort Peck Reservation include the Eyapi Oaye, the Wotanin and the Wotanin Wowapi. These newspapers cover news from Frazer, Oswego, Wolf Point, Poplar, Fort Kipp, and Brockton. The Eyapi Oaye, published monthly by the Fort Peck Tribal Executive Board (TEB), focuses on reservation news. The Wotanin was a bimonthly newsletter published by VISTA volunteers, led by Ed Broadus, in cooperation with the TEB. The stated purpose of the newsletter was “to fill the communications gap between the tribal members and the various reservation agencies”. In 1975 the Wotanin almost went out of business. It was saved by the TEB and renamed the Wotanin Wowapi (1975-2007) becoming the official Fort Peck Tribal Newspaper. It covers “TEB meetings, powwows, politics, social news, crime, and sports”.
