July 25 -- TERS Board July 26 - Council meeting July 29 -- Credit Committee July 30 -- Council meeting if agenda warrants July 31 -- Department head meetings Meetings called, on proposed contracting The proposed contracting of five IHS positions by the Tribes will be the topic of a public meeting Monday, July 22, at the Flathead Lake Senior Citizens center in Poison, beginning at 7 p.m. Esther Titcomb, one of the organizers of a series of meetings on the subject over the last several weeks, said the issue will also be discussed at the regularly scheduled Council meetings on July 19 and July 30. “All concerned citizens are urged to attend,” she said. The July 22nd meeting is Poison’s third on the controversial issue. A similar meeting was scheduled for St Ignatius July 9. There will be card games, stick games and dance contests. Special events noted are the Lost Article dance, Coffee dance, Gift-giving dance, Prairie Chicken dance and the Miss Kootenai pageant. For more information call 849-5541 or 849-5495. Fam ily picnic planned The Eli and Nancy Morigeau annual potluck picnic is scheduled for August 3rd. It wills tart at noon at the Poison Golf Course. “ Also,” the notes says, “ bring a ‘white elephant’. W e plan to play bingo and other games.” JULY 26-27-Chief Victor Days in Victor, MT. [No further details.] Fix-it fa ir planned The St Ignatius Family Crisis Center will be holding their first-ever “ Fix-it Fair” on July 27 from 9 am. to 7 p.m. at the St Ignatius Community Center. The fair will feature several booths offering simple repairs on small appliances for a minimal charge. There will also be a white elephant walk, a cake walk, pie auction, a silent auxtion for an oil painting and raffles on items donated by various retailers in the community. Also throughout the day, there will be entertainment (every-hour-on-the-hour) such as, the Port Poison Players and some clown acts. There is no admission to com e and look around, but they will take donations. All proceeds will go to the Family Crisis Center. Visit the museum in Browning Visitors to the pow wow this weekend in Browning might want to check out the special tepee display at the Museum o f the Plains Indian west of town. The museum’s pow wow hours will be 9 am. to 7 p.m. Admission is free . . . and elsewhere JULY 11, 12, 13 and 14 -- Blackfeet National North American Indian Days, Browning, MT. JULY 20-The Science Museum of Minnesota is showing a new exhibit titled “ A fter the Buffalo were Gone.” The exhibit tells of early Glacier National Park and how the railroad opened Montana to tourists and changed the culture of the Blackfeet Indians.
