Will you be one of them? Your friends and relatives will thank you for it. Tribal government class The second of three sessions being held to discuss Tribal government is set for Saturday, Nov. 21. The first session Nov. 14 was about the history of the subject. Session two will be about the contemporary system, with session three on Dec. 5 to focus on the future — interesting timing, in that the 1987 general Tribal election is set for Dec. 12. The classes all begin at 10 a.m. and run until 4 p.m.; call Salish Kootenai Col lege at 675-4800 for details about the exact location and signing up for (op tional) college credit. Perma-Dixon road meeting A public meeting to discuss recon struction of the portion of Montana 200 between the towns of Pcrma and Dixon has been scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 24, at the Dixon School gym, beginning at 7:30 p.m. The state highway depart ment “is seeking input from road users to indicate the most desirable alternatives and features so that the detail design work can be concentrated on the road way that will finally be built,” says the meeting announcement. Run-off election in Pablo Due to a tic vote in the Pablo district, a run-off election has been set for Wed nesday, Nov. 25. Thanksgiving Day closures Tribal, IHS and BIA offices will be closed on Thursday, Nov. 26, in obser vance of Thanksgiving Day. SCHOOL OFFERS SMALL BUSI- NESS TRAINING: Applications are being accepted for a small-business training program to be offered at the Missoula Vocational Technical Center. The program will focus on the creation or development of operations that em ploy fewer than eight people. By the end of the program, participants will have developed a business plan and record keeping system, a marketing plan, an advertising plan and a feasibility study. The cost will be $150, and some schol arships are available. The first session (on Tuesday evenings from mid-No vember to March) is full; a second one is set for Tuesday evenings from March to June. Applications are due by March 1 for the second session. Further informa tion can be obtained by contacting the Small Business Development Center at the School. AND FINALLY: A “spiritual walk for the sacred pipe” is being planned for next summer as a protest and an anniver sary. The walkers will be protesting the current status of the Black Hills contro versy, and marking the tenth anniver sary of “The Longest Walk”, a 1978 protest of anti-treaty legislation. The walk, set for sometime in June 1988, will begin at Devil’s Tower in South Dakota and end at Pipestone, Minnesota. Other activities being planned are honor ceremonies, sweats, speakers, concerts, and traditional danc ing and singing. Volunteers to help with the planning are needed now. For more information, write: Longest Walk Anniversary Committee, Box 877, Eagle Butte, SD 57625. ^ NOTICE OF AVAILABILITY ^ The Tribes are requesting proposals for an agricultural use and management agreement on 24,611 acres lying north of the Flathead River between the towns of Dixon and Perma in northwest Montana. This area, known as the Perma- Dixon Ranch, serves primarily as rangeland but also encompasses other re source components which are important use considerations.
