TITLE: Medical Social Worker LOCATION: Tribal Health Department, Ronan, MT SALARY: $24,000 - $30,000 D.O.E. QUALIFICATIONS: Master’s degree in Social Work and some relevent experience. Working knowledge of allied profes sions such as psychology, medicine, vocational rehabilitation, etc. Knowledge of cultural, political, socio-economic conditions of the Flathead Indian Reservation area. Comprehensive knowledge of available community health and treatment re sources and social service agencies, including their respective eligibility requirements. Skill in interviewing, preparing social service plans, conducting individual and group work, interact ing within community organizations, facilitating, coordinating, case management and consultation. Ability to assess, interpret and incorporate appropriate program policies and medical social work procedures. High level of written communication and speaking ability. BOARD VACANCY: Shoreline Protection The Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes by resolution established a schedule for expiration of term of the original board members of the Shoreline Protection Agency. The terms of office for two board members will expire January 31, 1988. The Shoreline Protection Office is located in Pablo, MT. Meetings will be held on the second Thursday of each month. SALARY: Honorarium and mileage. DUTIES: To regulate and review all new and existing con struction applications for compliance, as outlined in Tribal Ordinance 64A (revised) and 87A (“ALCO”) with their attached rules and regulations, in the best interest of clean water and environmental concerns. Provide direction to the Shoreline Protection Office and consider necessary changes in the rules, regulations and fee schedule. Each member is to hold office for a term of three years and until his successor is appointed. SALARY: Classification B - Pay Level 11 DUTIES: Services will be provided to elderly only, to include — cooking and preparing meals, shopping for food supplies, medicines, paying bills and other necessary errands; doing light, general housework; observing clients’ physical and mental condition; providing emotional support; keeping appro priate records by working and coordinating with the public health nurse in that area. QUALIFICATIONS: Nurse’s aide traing and/or human serv ices training preferred. Training in nutrition and elderly special diets. Experience in working with elders. Knowledge of Reser vation community, social services providers, personal care practices, and client record-keeping. Ability to show interest in and effectively deal with elders. Master’s degree in social work to doctorate degree in clinical psychology. Demonstrated skills in individual and family counseling. Knowledge of case management; of the Federal Privacy Act; of clinical supervision and treatment planning; of Native Ameri can culture, preferably Salish and/or Kootenai culture; and of the wholistic approach to substance abuse treatment. Previous experience in employee supervision, in a family therapist position, in working with Native Americans or another minority population, and in working in chemical dependency and children of alcoholics.
