QUALIFICATIONS: Master’s degree in Social Work and some relevent experience. Working knowledge of allied profes sions such as psychology, medicine, vocational rehabilitation, etc. Knowledge of cultural, political, socio-economic conditions of the Flathead Indian Reservation area. Comprehensive knowledge of available community health and treatment re sources and social service agencies, including their respective eligibility requirements. Skill in interviewing, preparing social service plans, conducting individual and group work, interact ing within community organizations, facilitating, coordinating, case management and consultation. Ability to assess, interpret and incorporate appropriate program policies and medical social work procedures. High level of written communication and speaking ability. TITLE: Cook (On-call) LOCATION: Kicking Horse Job Corps, Ronan SALARY: Classification D, Pay Level 13 DUTIES: Receives daily work assignments from Food Serv ice Manager involving cooking assignments, special projects, student and practical instruction demonstrations, and generally oversee daily meal preparations. Ensures sanitation and safety of kitchen facility by kitchen police assignments, instructing students on health and sanitation rules and regulations, and re porting any deficiencies of kitchen or equipment to Manager. Ensures safeguarding of all secured materials and inventory, reporting all inventory used during shift to Manager. Docu ments students’ progress and reports to Manager daily and weekly. This ensures accurate vocational input for guidance teams and maximum benefits system. Ensures student ac countability including roll-taking, student conduct, student participation, and reporting of special incidents. Performs Cook Apprentice Instructor’s duties in his/her absence, when as signed. Work irregular hours when assigned. Performs all other related duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma or GED. Three years of experience in institutional cooking, OR five years of cooking experience, OR a graduate of a 2-year vocational/ technical cooking program and one year of cooking experience. Ability to communicate in verbal and written form. Possess or be able to obtain Montana chauffeur’s license. Must be able to pass physical stating that applicant is free of any communicable disease. Hold or be able to obtain a food handler’s card. Able to work weekends and unusual hours. TITLE: Associate Judge (to be appointed by the Tribal Council) LOCATION: Tribal Court, Pablo SALARY: $15,000-$20,000 DUTIES: Preside over cases tried in juvenile court and such other cases as may be appropriate in accordance with any recognized Tribal, federal or state law; render judgments fairly and firmly. Prior to hearing each juvenile case, the associate judge must order a pre-trial investigation and report from the appropriate department or agency and then conduct athorough pre-trial informal hearing. The informal hearing will consist of reviewing the investigation reports and all other case-f ile docu ments relating to the issue before the court. Issue judgments and orders to implementthe judgments. This may occurdirectly at the end of a trial or after investigations or reports have been completed. The associate judge will occasionally be required to sit as an appellate court judge. Issue court orders, including warrants, subpoenas and summonses necessary in the effec tive adjudication of criminal and civil actions before the court. Perform marriages under the Tribal Code. Continue judicial training and education programs in studies directly relating to law and judicial duties. QUALIFICATIONS: Enrolled member of the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes. Reside on the Flathead Reserva tion. Have never had a felony conviction. Have no misde meanor convictions (except minor traffic violations) in the past year. Do not have any criminal or civil actions pending in which the applicant is a plaintiff or defendant. Is at least 21 years of age. Must be a person of good character and reputation. Three- to-f ive years in a law-related field or prior experience as a judge is desireable. Work experience with youths will be considered. Working knowledge and understanding of the Indian commu nity and its people, including traditions and customs, would be beneficial to the job. Good writing, communication, research and organizational skills. Good decision-making capabilities and dispute-resolution techniques. Ability to deal well with people in highly emotional, adversarial or otherwise confronta tional situations. A four-year college degree in a related disci pline is desireable.
